Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions regarding our products (how they should fit and garment care) or how to measure your dog for a fleece jumper or coat, please take a look at our YouTube Channel Redhoundfordogs.  Many of your questions will be answered in depth.  Don't forget to give us a like and subscribe as new videos will be added all the time.

We have created a page that will help you with this – What Size. We now have YouTube videos on both How to Measure your Dog for a Coat and How to Measure your Dog for a Fleece Jumper.

There are many suggestions that answer this, but it is best to establish what function you want the coat to serve, is it for wet walks, or to keep your hound warm indoors?  - You might find this page useful What Coat?

We have two harness hole coats, the Norfolk and the Norwich, and also our Carlisle Whip-it-Away Mac. All three items fit well over Ruffwear and Perfect Fit harnesses. The hole is approximately 10cms (4”) from the base of the neck.

All our items are handmade in the UK by our skilled sewers in our Kent workroom.

Even though you have measured your dog and think you have selected the right size, sometimes our clothes just are not a good fit for your dog. If the item is in a resalable condition please return it, on a signed for service, and we will issue you a refund within 3-5 days of receiving the goods. If you would like to try a different size, please re-order on our website. All items go out with a Returns Form, please fill this out and send the item back to 'Returns Department'

All our products have the expected delivery time on the page, many are dispatched within 3-5 working days but made to order items are up to 14 working days at busy times like Christmas at which time there is a tick box at the till that has to be ticked to complete the order, stating that you are aware of the timing.

Many of our coats are made when the order is received. With such a big range of designs, colours and sizes it is not viable for us to hold stock of them all.  Our items are hand made by skilled sewers and this process can take varying times depending on the time of year. At busy times like Christmas and during sales it will be longer, but the timings are stated on a banner at the top of each page.

Sometimes we have stock of an item that is usually made to order, and this will  be dispatched in the 3-5 day time scale. Generally in busy times it is not possible to get your order any quicker because you will be placed in a making queue along with many others. If you are in a hurry we urge you to give us a call (01622 297100) to have a chat, we might be able to offer you an alternative colour.

We don’t offer a made to measure service as we find that most dogs fit into one of our standard sizes.

All our products have a care label on the inside. Wax coats are NOT washable. You can sponge down any dirt, but the best way is to let the coat dry, then use a clothes brush to brush the dry dirt off. Take a quick look at our YouTube video for guidance: How to Care for your Wax Coat
