Festive Whippet Clothing
Top of the wish list for every whippet is something to keep them warm and snuggly at night and while outside in the cold. This years Christmas offering from Redhound is a choice of two stylish Christmas Pj’s and a matching jumper to sling on when your whippet joins you for festive walks with family and friends.
When looking for something festive for your whippet buy from a maker who specialises in whippets. For items they might sleep in, buy natural fabrics, synthetic might be cheap but it won't allow your dog to regulate temperature and in the excitement of the season you might not notice your whippet is getting too hot.
Our Christmas jumpers always sell out quickly but if you still want festive, you can't go wrong with a red fleece with a festive flashing light collar over the top so your whippet can be noticed and look the part for those festive adventures.

Matching whippet collar & lead set
Whippets and sighthounds are unique in so many ways including their need for special collars. They look fabulous in a stylish shaped leather collar or wide fabric collar. Many makers now offer matching leads to complete the look. Whippets have long, slender, delicate, elegant necks that require a specific type of collar. A wider shaped collar helps to protect the larger surface are of the neck and distribute the pressure evenly. They need special collars because their slim heads they can easily back out of standard dog collars.
Some whippet owners favour martingale collars, or wide webbing or fabric collars that clip to close or slide over the head and tighten to the right size. Our popular leather collars are available in festive Red and Green too.
This collar and lead combo by Brindle and Whyte makes a great gift of whippet owners. It’s washable, individually made in Kent by skilled hands and they have a very festive Chilli colour on offer.

New whippet puppy gifts
If you have a new puppy arriving over the festive season you’ll need to be prepared. Our Puppy Packs have everything you’ll need to get started: a jumper, tee, toy, treats and cosy blanket. We offer five fantastic colour options, all coordinated for maximum style.
Your puppy will grow out of their first jumper but it is essential for toilet training and those first outdoor adventures – Christmas Walk anyone? You can sell any items your pup outgrows on our popular Swap it or Sell Saturday features over on the Redhounders Facebook page, giving you something towards the next size up when puppy needs it.

Luxury gifts for the discerning whippet owner
If you’ve got a whippet, you will have friends with whippets too and most of my whippet owning friends would rather have a gift for their dog than one for them. So, if you want to buy something really special for a friend or family member, how about this antler whistle from the Innocent Hound, made from Scottish shed antlers handcrafted in Yorkshire. They also offer a British made stylish treat bag crafted from leather offcuts. It slips handily onto a belt. Innocent Hound are a wonderful company, who do the most amazing range of training treats too.

A cosy blanket to share
Every whippet owner knows that their hound loves to snuggle up and keep warm and most will have a house full of blankets. Christmas gives us all more sofa time with our hounds and what better way than to snuggle down with a luxury fleece lined blanket?
The Dandy Dog Company offers a selection of gift items for hound and human, but their Cable Knit Blanket stands out for value and luxury. It’s reasonably priced and all of their products are packed with the delight of the customer in mind – you can be sure that if you ask to have it sent direct, the recipient will be very happy.

A stylish waterproof whippet coat
Our Whitstable Whippet Coat is a tried and tested favourite among whippet owners. It’s the ideal winter coat, fleece lined, waterproof, warm and windproof. It’s perfect for all ages of whippet, but the oldies especially benefit from it’s easy fit and cosy fleece lining. It’s the ultimate in luxury with a reasonable price. Made from dead stock fabric that would otherwise be taken to landfill, it’s sustainable and kind to our planet too. Made to a high standard in our Kent studio, it will give your whippet many years of faithful service for those really cold outdoor adventures.

Whippet home essentials (for the humans)
Whippets are iconic making them great subject matter for designers, artists and photographers. If you want to buy a whippet loving friend something for their home there’s lots out there to choose from.
Tea Towels – Dee from The Slumbering Hound is a maker, artist and owner of a stylish dog shop at Hatfield House. This year she's used some of her stunning artwork of dogs, to produce tea towels and mugs.
Mugs – There are so many out there, my favourites include those from Made by Harriet because the artwork of sighthounds is fun and quirky and the mugs are bone china, making a cup of tea taste great.

Edible treats for whippets
Christmas is a time to indulge, so why not gift your whippet a box of unusual and interesting goodies made from all natural ingredients, such as Kangaroo or Quail and Blueberry? The Lake District Dog Company offer a range of beautifully presented treats for dogs, enrichment feeders and lick mats as well as a range of thoughtful toys.
These stylish treats will delight any whippet or owner this Christmas.

The crafty gift for whippet lovers
If you’re a knitter or know a knitter, the ultimate book choice is our whippet lover’s book Dogs in Jumpers. Packed full of gorgeous sighthound photos, as well as whippet patterns, there’s also a pattern for a greyhound and one that will fit a Lurcher or Galgo. Some patterns are super easy, others more challenging, but they are tried and tested by the dog loving knitting community. The book is a great stocking filler, you won’t want to only knit one.
Plan ahead
Remember that many small businesses rely on this time of year to fund the leaner times that follow in January, so by supporting a small business at Christmas you're helping them to be there the next time you need them. Many will be posting out until the very last posting days and will appreciate your orders as soon as possible so that the last few days are not quite so manic, allowing them to ease their way into a well needed break over Christmas.
