Can this style of whippet coat be made with a hole for my collar clip?
No, we can't put a hole in the collar seam, it's going to let in water! If your whippet wants to wear the hood over the ears, just pop the collar over the top of the coat, it's thin enough for this when worn solo.
How do I re-proof it and how often should I do this?
Wash with a product like Nik-Wax to reproof. Frequency depends on how often you wash it as the washing will strip out the resistance of the fabric, so if you wash a lot, re-proof every 6 months.
Let it dry completely before folding and putting away, having brushed off any dry mud. This will keep it fresh and lasting longer.
